Bodysport features the Vertimax Sport Training System in it’s athletic strength, speed and explosive training.  Vertimax is currently in use by most major professional and college teams in most every sport.  Vertimax is unparalleled at creating explosiveness and vertical leap in athletes.  Our facility is one of the few facilities in Las Vegas to carry the Vertimax, so take advantage of it for your sport training and give yourself an edge over your competition!!!

Why Vertimax for Sport Training?

Because of this simple mathematical equation:
POWER = [FORCE] x [VELOCITY]

Force = Muscular Strength (one rep max)
Velocity = Time Rate of Muscle Contraction

With weight training the FORCE element is high, but the VELOCITY (speed) element is minimal.

With plyometrics the VELOCITY element of the power equation is high, but the FORCE (resistance) element is minimal.

Light Load High Speed training employs both a high VELOCITY element and a FORCE element.

This markedly increases RATE of force development – for speed and quickness on the field of play.  Without incorporating Light Load – High Speed Training, there will be significant athletic potential that is never developed or seen.  If you want to be fast, you have to train fast!  It’s not just how strong you are, but how fast can  you generate that strength!

This book is amazing. Changed my life. I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis back in 2000 by orthopedists in Washington. One specialist recommended a discotomy, a surgery where they cut out part of your discs in your vertebrae. A major operation that has long-term negative side effects. I was devastated by this news. I looked for other options. Howard Stern mentioned this book on the radio and how it saved his life and cured his back pain

I read it.

I no longer have pain. I’m basically cured!

A miracle? Who knows. Read the book.

Who’d thought I’d be dancing on stage for Chippendales for the past seven years? Certainly not those doctors! lol

Healing Back Pain: The Mind-Body Connection

Amazon.com Review
Healing Back Pain promises permanent elimination of back pain without drugs, surgery, or exercise. It should have been titled Understanding TMS Pain, because it discusses one particular cause of back pain–Tension Myositis Syndrome (TMS)–and isn’t really a program for self-treatment, with only five pages of action plan (and many more pages telling why conventional methods don’t work). According to John E. Sarno, M.D., TMS is the major cause of pain in the back, neck, shoulders, buttocks, and limbs–and it is caused not by structural abnormalities but by the mind’s effort to repress emotions. He’s not saying that your pain is all in your head; rather, he’s saying that the battle going on in your mind results in a real physical disorder that may affect muscles, nerves, tendons, or ligaments. An injury may have triggered the disorder, but is not the cause of the amount or intensity of the resulting pain. According to Sarno, the mind tricks you into not facing repressed emotion by making you focus on pain in the body. When this realization sinks in (“and it must sink in, for mere intellectual appreciation of the process is not enough”), the trick doesn’t work any more, and there’s no need for the pain. (Healing Back Pain should not be used for self-diagnosis. Always consult a physician for chronic or acute back pain.) –Joan Price

Scientific Athlete Performance Testing is designed to test the limits of athletes’ performances and capabilities and is offered at Bodysport.  We utilize the services of David Sandler and Strength Pro.   David is the genius behind Fox Sport’s “Sport Science” and the Discovery Channel’s “Fight Science“.  With his advanced testing equipment and procedures, he will not only measure your strengths and weaknesses, he can help prescribe the correct training protocols to correct them!  You can have David or the trainers here at Bodysport use this information to optimally train you.  Or you can take the results to your trainer and have him/her use them to formulate a better training program for you.

Correct exercise prescription is key to an athlete performing to his maximum capability and in preventing injury.  For example, is an athlete so quadricep strength dominant that the difference in strength compared to his hamstring presents the danger of ACL and MCL knee problems?  Or will the same condition make that athlete susceptible to hamstring strains or even tearing?

Another example would be vertical leap.  Many athletes have great vertical leap height, but are they exploding fast enough to get to that height as soon as possible?  Is the athlete deficient in the eccentric or concentric portion of the lift?  In sports, where the difference of being on or out of the play can be .01 second, the athlete and his trainer needs to know and David can tell you. Youth Speed, Agility, Strength and Conditioning

Youth Speed, Agility, Strength and Conditioning, an offshoot of our Sport Specific Training, is designed to instruct older children and young adults the fundamentals of working out to get faster, more agile, stronger and have more endurance, so that they can play sports better and raise their level of fitness. As an added benefit, these students end up looking better, feeling better about themselves and having increased self esteem and self confidence. This may be just the thing they need to have an easier time coping with the pressures of growing up and attending middle school and high school. Class sizes will be limited so that we can insure students get the attention they deserve so they can learn properly. Remember, it only takes a few repetitions to learn to do something incorrectly and have that pattern ingrained in your brain and neuromuscular pathways. Unlearning the wrong way of doing something however, can take hundreds or even thousands of correct repetitions. So learn to do it right the first time!

Below is Gerry working with a Western High School Football Player on improving the eccentric loading portion of his jump.  This is very important for overall athletic performance because in sports, it not only matters how high you jump, but how fast you jump and how fast after a jump you can jump again.  Think about suddenly stopping on a pass route and immediately jumping for the football.  Or going for a rebound against another player and you both miss.  First one back up gets the ball!
